Mission Statement
We are a 501c(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to equip our loved ones coming home from incarceration, injustice, and abuse by giving them the tools to succeed in family, housing, business, and law. Educating our loved ones with "Helping Ourselves To Transform" into new citizens with tools to live a productive life by supporting ourselves in transforming back into our community. Helping the Community, Corporate America, and Small Business to understand the importance of supporting the needs of our loved ones together which will help with reducing recidivism. We use a one-on-one approach by understanding one shoe doesn’t fit all but using an approach that sees one, do one, each one teach one. This will identify with the basic needs that will create that bridge between us and our community because the cure to mass incarceration is mass liberation.
Description
Helping Ourselves To Transform (HOTT) provides professional relationships for returning citizens. This collaborative relationship is strength-based and iterative, in that, we take our charges through step-by-step phases of successful community reintegration. We assist our charges by connecting them with available resources and helping to negotiate for their new role in society. We work to restore the civil/human rights of the formerly incarcerated and those affected by violence through organizing and mobilizing individuals to become advocates for social changes and personal development.
