The Area: Career Development Programs

Scholar and a Dream is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of students of color through scholarships, career development, and mentorship. Our Program team is vital in helping our network of high school students accelerate their careers. Behind the scenes, the team is diligently planning, developing and executing career development and enrichment programs for inner city students across the 5-boroughs. We are looking for a highly driven Program Manager to join our team.


The role:

As a Program Manager, you will be responsible for creating a framework that guides the Programs & Partnerships team to design, manage, and execute career development initiatives. You will provide basic to moderate range of coordination for all career development programs; working with internal and external parties to organize the various components needed to launch and drive major initiatives that will positively impact the lives of underrepresented high school students.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Program & Partnership chairs of Scholar & a Dream to design, manage, and execute career development initiatives
  • Develop program scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring feasibility
  • Develop a detailed program plan and program artifacts (e.g. program log, schedule, status reports, etc) to track progress
  • Create and maintain program management templates as necessary
  • Ensure that all programs are delivered on-time, within scope and budget
  • Day-to-day management of resources and tasks, organizing and leading/attending meetings, implementing monitor and control activities

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hospitality, Public Relations or similar, related field
  • 2-4 years of experience in program management, project management, or related field
  • Passionate about giving back to underrepresented communities of color
  • Strong relationship-building skills, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to problem solve, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced virtual environment
  • Strong ability to self-motivate, prioritize and execute effectively
  • Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills to elicit and provide accurate information clearly and concisely
  • Thrive under pressure during events and periods of quick scaling
  • Committed to dedicating 10-15/hours per week (flexible schedule)
