Each day our Heartland Hospice staff and volunteers work to provide the best in hospice care to our patients. We need volunteers who are able to work in our Raleigh office to assist with patient phone calls and other administrative tasks. If you work well with others, enjoy speaking with new people and knowing you are making a difference in our patients' lives, you are the volunteer we are looking for! We are looking for volunteers who can commit to coming in to our office one time per week. Times and days are flexible!

Each volunteer must attend a mandatory orientation, agree to a criminal background check and provide proof of a negative TB Test (or agree to a TB Test provided by our organization, following orientation) as well as an annual Influenza vaccine.

Description
Our Volunteers are the hearts of Heartland Hospice. No task is too big or too small. A skilled team of staff and volunteers cater to the control of medical, social, psychological, and spiritual symptoms of our patients and families living with a terminal illness. Volunteers bring comfort to patients and their families through their work in various areas such as friendly visitor, caregiver relief sitting, special projects, bereavement, pet therapy, cosmetology, vigil, and memory catchers. There are volunteer opportunities to comfort, attend to, share a laugh, reassure, do something creative, treasure a memory, or spend quite time at a patent's bedside - just being there so a patient never feels alone. Volunteer work is varied. As a Heartland Hospice volunteer you can donate as much or as little of your time as you desire, we are flexible to meet your scheduling needs. Volunteers come specifically to Heartland Hospice for different reasons. Most volunteers express a desire to "give back" for a kindness they experienced within their lives. Heartland is also looking to recruit volunteers to fill special project roles including weekly readers for reading groups and seasonal activity leaders for patients who live in local facilities.
