ORGANIZATION: Elder Wisdom Circle

Elder Wisdom Circle, a nonprofit organization, is seeking a talented Designer to support the brand’s social media and content marketing operations. Reporting to an Editor and Executive Director, the successful candidate will design and produce social media and content marketing assets including graphics, photos, and templates; qualified candidates with strong video experience may be asked to collaborate on short-form video productions as well.

This opportunity is virtual -- work from your home or office. Our hope is that you can volunteer about six hours a week.

The Elder Wisdom Circle is an award-winning online inter-generational program. Empathetic grandparent figures offer advice to younger generations on managing life’s challenges including self-improvement, career, family, dating relationships, mental health, and many other topics. The EWC has been featured in over 100 media outlets including ABC, BBC, NPR, the NY Times, and many others. To date, we have facilitated almost 500,000 one-on-one interactions and our website receives 400,000 visits each year.

The types of things you’ll do:

  • Design digital assets that support social media and content marketing initiatives
  • Produce a broad range of deliverables including graphics, photos, and templates
  • Create brand-related artwork
  • Maintain an organized archive of all artwork and photo files
  • Stay up to date with social media and design trends
  • Stay current on new tools, platforms, and social media trends and develop campaigns that reflect those insights
  • Collaborate with the Editor to understand current and future content needs
  • Work primarily on social platforms but open to work on other digital platforms as needed

Who you are:

  • 2-3+ years of experience producing custom social content within an agency or in-house social/creative teams
  • Must have access to, strong knowledge of, and hands-on experience with the Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign
  • Understanding of social media platforms, best practices, and trends as well as metrics for digital and social content
  • Strong eye for engaging content design
  • Desire to constantly improve and evolve to create more effective content
  • Experience with motion graphics, animation, and/or video design skills/short-form video editing and encoding requirements, would be a big plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design/related fields or equivalent work experience
  • Strong digital/social content portfolio showcasing a range of themes, styles, and formats
  • Strong typography, photography, and illustration/image manipulation skills with a keen eye for taste level and unique executions.
  • Demonstrated experience conceptualizing and executing impactful, engaging creative for digital/social platforms
  • A plus would be motion graphics, animation, and/or video design skills
  • Highly organized, proactive, multifaceted, capable of working on concurrent projects, and able to communicate effectively to team members and executives.
  • Obsessed with the internet and pop culture - you're the first in your friend group to hear about the next big thing to appeal to the 18-24-year-old crowd.

Description

We are a web-based nonprofit service organization that pairs online advice seekers in their teens, 20's and 30's with a nationwide network of Cyber-Grandparents, aged 55 to 105, who share their hard-earned knowledge and wisdom. Our Elder members participate individually from their home computers or in groups at retirement communities (with the help of a facilitator). Anyone with access to the Internet can request anonymous advice on any topic and will receive a personalized e-mail response in return. The voice of experience is hip, sincere, and highly sought after by people of all ages; we are the most popular source of free online advice in the country. The Elder Wisdom Circle has been featured on ABC, CBS, BBC, NPR, and in many publications including USA Today and Time.
