The Lawyers in Palestine program is a program that gives you the opportunity to know, understand, and engage with the Palestinian legal system. As a participate in this program, you will be able to learn about the judicial system and how the courts operate in Palestine.

The Lawyers in Palestine program is offered at the Palestinian Center in Hebron. The program is for individuals who want to become acquainted with Palestinian law and learn how judges, prosecutors, and lawyers handle the diversity of cases that are received by the courts in Palestine.

It takes place in the heart of Palestine, which is located in the center of the Middle East, in the city of Hebron. Hebron, Al-Khalil in Arabic, is located in the southern part of the West Bank. It is 30 km (19 miles) south of Jerusalem. The population of Hebron is about 300,000 persons who reside in the city, and about another 500,000 who live in the surrounding villages.

Field visits to lawyers and judges working in Courts in Hebron City are conducted in order to illustrate what is learned in the classroom and to demonstrate day-to-day application of the law, its role in resolving people’s problems, and its influences in the legal system in Palestine. Participants will visit courts, law firms, and legal organizations to aid in understanding the role of law in an occupied country such as Palestine.
