Metro Meals on Wheels is looking for assistance in our packing process at our catering kitchen. This role is an integral part of the meal delivery process. Volunteers will count out and package the appropriate number of items from our kitchen to be delivered to neighborhood Meals on Wheels programs. Normally volunteer activities are a great social opportunity, however this particular role is more independent and accuracy is very important. There is time spent retrieving meals from the walk-in cooler, counting out fruit, bread, and dessert side dishes that are then labeled by program and content. This person also will be assist with cleaning bins, breaking down cardboard boxes, and keeping shelves stocked with items. Wear comfortable shoes, dress in layers, and come prepared to join an active packing team.
Please reach out to Anita at Anita@meals-on-wheels.com or give her a call at 612-623-3363 to learn more about this new volunteer position! The ideal volunteer for this position is regularly available one morning or more a week from 8AM to 10AM.

Mission Statement
Metro Meals on Wheels is the association of 32 Meals on Wheels programs in the Twin Cities metro area. With our program partners, we lead the effort to make sure people in our community receive the nutritious meals and the human connection they need to help them live independently.
Description
Meals on Wheels is a community-based service that provides fresh, nutritious meals delivered directly to the homes of seniors and individuals with disabilities throughout the Twin Cities. In addition to regularly providing healthy food, caring volunteers provide social connection that helps meal recipients remain living independently in their own homes.
With the help of Meals on Wheels programs, seniors and people with disabilities get the nourishment and human connection needed to support daily activities, while reducing the need for medical support. For some recipients, these daily meals are the difference between living in their own homes and moving to a nursing home.
Meals on Wheels could not exist without the help of volunteers who deliver the meals and donors who help those who cannot afford to pay for the meals.
Every year volunteers deliver more than a million meals in the Metro area. With over 32 locations in the Twin Cities there is sure to be a program near you! Please join us!
