Nyamboyo Technical School Overview
NTS a not-for-profit 3-year vocational school located in the Nyamboyo Village in Southwestern Kenya. We provide professional, technical education to the economically disadvantaged teens and young adults of the community. Our students are ages 14-20 and all have family histories of poverty, lack of education and job opportunities, and chronic food insecurity. At NTS, they receive professional vocational training, 3 meals a day to combat hunger and malnutrition, English-language classes, computer training, and daily COVID-safe sports activities. Our students thrive professionally, physically, and psychologically.
Nyamboyo Technical School is looking for experienced, creative illustrators with InDesign experience!
We are looking for creative illustrators who can help us with the illustrations for an ESL text originally created in the US that we have adapted for our Kenyan youth. There are multiple short books and you can commit to as few as one book or as many 7, depending on your time. It is also possible to use free stock photos, if you have the ability to locate them.
Responsibilities include:
--Create illustrations or find photos. Send to our team for review.
--Review feedback and make changes as necessary.

They also participate in school-run businesses, learning how to become business owners and making money while in school. Our students thrive professionally, physically, and psychologically.
Ultimately, we are building a positive, prosperous future for our youth, as employees, small business owners, and serial entrepreneurs!
NTS is led by Executive Director, Jones Obiria, a native of Nyamboro, who founded the school because he felt an obligation to lead after he, himself was able to escape poverty through the gift of education. Here in the U.S., a small, dedicated team of two are working to help raise awareness and funds for NTS. In Jones’ words "People save their own lives. Our job is to provide the opportunity. I hope you will join our journey."
