Global Deeds is devoted to systemically disrupting the cycle of poverty by assisting public schools, nonprofits, and corporations in empowering disadvantaged youth through modern education and employment.

We create customized support systems that enable students to reach their potential as technically savvy, financially stable and socially-conscious citizens.

With our collaborative network of corporate sponsors and advocates within 41 cities, we will cultivate enthusiasm in the next generation and ultimately reduce poverty rates in the Global Deeds community and beyond.

Job Description:

A qualified candidate should possess excellent writing, verbal communication, and computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel). The candidate must be highly organized with the ability to implement systems, follow-up processes, use independent judgment, and produce high quality work within tight time constraints. There will be a training session before officially starting the role of Grants Manager. This is a remote part-time position, on a contractual basis with the possibility of changing into a full-time position depending on funding available.

Job Duties:

  • Preparation and/or revision of proposals and grant applications, identifying, developing, and responding to federal and private grant opportunities in various areas.
  • Conducts prospect research on potential government, foundation, and individual grantors using internet sites and other research resources.
  • Reports to the supervisor at least twice per week to go over financial needs, goals, and results for Global Deeds Foundation.
  • Communicates frequently with the supervisor for clarification of standard operating procedures.
  • Maintains and tracks grant requests and reporting requirements. Maintains database and files regarding information about grantors, including contact information, requests for funding, reporting requirements, deadlines, and whether the requests are funded or not funded.
  • Corresponds with prospects and grantors, including following up to check on status of proposals and reporting back to them on their program investments.
  • Coordinates on-site visits with prospects / grantors as needed.
  • Meets with the supervisor and funding source agencies as needed to review financial reports, verifies figures and information for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with grant regulations.
  • Revision and evaluation of pitch decks

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in English, communications, or related field, is required, and/or a minimum of 5 years of working experience as a grant writer. The candidate must have excellent writing and verbal communication skills, be proficient in research (accessing, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data), and he/she must possess the ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve the goals of the organization.

Experience:

  • Experience processing both private and federal grants is required
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional grant writing experience is required
  • Experience with prospect research
  • Proven approval success rate of at least 60%

Specific Goals & Expectations:

  • Monthly submission of private and federal grants will be required
  • Supervision and management of all grant requirements in collaboration with accountants and administrators (IRS and state reports, such as PC Forms, 990s, annual reports, CAGE renewal, etc).

Competencies:

  • Teamwork - We have tight deadlines and work with teams of contractors the grant writer will need to interact with as a team player. Ability to get along well with people coming from all walks of life is important.
  • Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; participates in meetings.
  • Written Communication - Writes clearly and informatively; varies writing style to meet needs; presents numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information.

Terms & Conditions:

  • This is a remote position with required weekly virtual meetings (we prefer grant writers located in the United States, particularly in the northeast).
  • The grant writer must be willing to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) where it is specified that he/she shall not assist any other nonprofit in the submission of the same grants Global Deeds Foundation applies for, and that no proprietary information or research reports shall be used for monetary gains or for benefitting a third party.

Global Deeds Foundation is a public charitable organization, which was registered in 2005 in the state of Massachusetts and became a 501 (c)(3) in 2008. The name "Global Deeds" is what is used to identify the entire "hybrid" organization (social enterprise). We work to empower youth living in poverty and our support entails assisting schools and teachers by implementing modern curricula through Global Deeds Foundation and employment (and other kinds of opportunities) through Global Deeds, Inc.
