Global Deeds is devoted to systemically disrupting the cycle of poverty by assisting public schools, nonprofits, and corporations in empowering disadvantaged youth through modern education and employment.

We create customized support systems that enable students to reach their potential as technically savvy, financially stable and socially-conscious citizens.

With our collaborative network of corporate sponsors and advocates within 41 cities, we will cultivate enthusiasm in the next generation and ultimately reduce poverty rates in the Global Deeds community and beyond.

Volunteer Event Planner Description

This position is open only to experienced individuals who seek to gain visibility for their event planning businesses or candidates with a large online follow up and years of experience coordinating high-ticket sales events.

We are looking for successful and enthusiastic event planners to produce events from conception through completion. Event planner responsibilities include:

  1. Event design and logistics
  2. Searching for event sponsors
  3. Drafting an event description / plan
  4. Securing a venue
  5. Designing Eventbrite invitations and marketing materials
  6. Ordering catering services
  7. Coordinating the lights/sound and camera crew
  8. Coordinating the auction team
  9. Employing security personnel and servers under our guidance as necessary
  10. Coordinating the volunteer team
  11. Assisting with the recruitment of special guests and following up under our guidance
  12. Generating and cleaning email lists
  13. Promoting the event online, via the press and via email (EPK)
  14. Setting up press conferences

Additional Responsibilities

  • Liaise with sponsors to identify their needs and to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Conduct market research, gather information and negotiate contracts prior to closing any deals
  • Provide feedback and periodic reports to stakeholders
  • Propose ideas to improve provided services and event quality
  • Organize facilities and manage all event’s details such as decor, catering, entertainment, transportation, location, invitee list, special guests, equipment, promotional material, etc
  • Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, health and safety obligations
  • Specify staff requirements and coordinate their activities
  • Cooperate with marketing and PR to promote and publicize event
  • Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on the event day
  • Conduct pre- and post - event evaluations and report on outcomes
  • Research market, identify event opportunities and generate interest

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an events planner or organizer (summits and galas)
  • Impressive portfolio of previously managed events (weddings, meetings, parties, corporate events)
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Sales skills and ability to build productive business relationships
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently
  • MS Office proficiency
  • Willing to submit references from previous clients
  • BS in Event Management, communications, or related field

Non-disclosure

Global Deeds Foundation is a public charitable organization, which was registered in 2005 in the state of Massachusetts and became a 501 (c)(3) in 2008. The name "Global Deeds" is what is used to identify the entire "hybrid" organization (social enterprise). We work to empower youth living in poverty and our support entails assisting schools and teachers by implementing modern curricula through Global Deeds Foundation and employment (and other kinds of opportunities) through Global Deeds, Inc.
