Critical Areas of Need: Greenwood Lake -- Monroe -- New Windsor -- Newburgh
700 Homebound seniors on over 68 different routes throughout Orange County receive meal deliveries three days per week through the work of volunteer drivers who pick up their meal containers at a local drop site, deliver the route and then return the empty containers to the drop site. Volunteers are asked to call the meal recipient upon arrival outside their home, so the meal package can be readily dropped off quickly and safely at the door.
Most routes are picked up at a local drop site around 10:30am and take about an hour to complete delivery. Volunteers will need their own insured vehicles for this activity. Bring a friend and serve your neighbors together!
All training will be provided to ensure a safe and comfortable volunteer experience.
Volunteers age 55+ can also enroll in our AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program to receive a 25 cents per mile reimbursement (call 845-615-3728 to inquire about this benefit.)

Mission Statement
Orange County Office for the Aging provides information about programs and resources to our County's older adults and their families to assist with independent living -- to maintain proper nutrition, good health and social connectivity allowing them to remain in their own homes for as long as it is safe and healthy to do so.
Description
Volunteers of all ages are needed for many of our OFA programs: to deliver meals to homebound seniors, provide health insurance and tax counseling, respite care for Caregivers, and to serve as Friendly Visitors providing companionship and transportation assistance. Many of our community partners such as food pantries, libraries, cultural groups, Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, People for People Fund, etc. seek volunteers to assist with their distribution of community services, while enhancing OCOFA's support of our senior population.
