Reading Buddies Literacy Tutoring is an innovative community tutoring program that helps students strengthen literacy skills through 1:1/small group learning.
Reading Buddies will pair adult AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP volunteers with students in kindergarten through fifth-grade. The adult volunteers will serve as reading guides and will spend 1-2 hours twice per week developing literacy skills with their students. The interactive-online application is designed with engaging games, and rigorous curriculum, that guide the students and tutors through the components of literacy and provide live, impactful teaching. No teaching experience needed. Basic computer skills required. Training will be provided.

Description
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
