Do you enjoy helping organizations create fundraisers and strategies to help increase their impact? Do you have experience with building a donor base, identifying prospective donors, corporate giving and overall fundraising? Do you feel comfortable talking to people about supporting an amazing organization through donations? If you answered yes to any of those questions it clearly means that one of your strengths is development or fundraising and we are looking for you! In this volunteer role, you will be helping to ensure that we can increase our donor base and overall fundraising capabilities to ensure the animals in our program have access to life changing programming.
If you are in Chicago that's great! If not, that's okay too. We are looking for people who are passionate about helping the animals in our program! At SFAR, you will be working with a collaborative team who all have the same goal of helping as many animals as possible. We need new team members who are willing to leverage their expertise so together, we can fulfill the mission of SFAR. If your interest has been piqued, this may be a wonderful volunteer opportunity for you and it will no doubt be as rewarding as it is impactful.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and organize different aspects of the organization's fundraising programs
- Develop, and implement progress toward short- and long-term fundraising strategy and goals.
- Create reports post-event to analyze data
- Identifying and stewarding prospective donors
- Communicating with donors and staff via email, phone or social media
- Answering donor inquiries in a timely manner
- Using prospect research tools and donor database to build donor relationships
- Creating solicitation materials for fundraising efforts
- Working with the Board of Directors in development related projects.
- Serving as a public representative of the organization, including cultivating relationships with community members, including prospective volunteers and supporters in order to build awareness of and commitment to our work.
- Supporting the maintenance and expansion of the organization’s database of supporters.

Our mission is to provide refuge for senior animals and animals needing hospice care. We aim to provide education, assistance and support to the public to help people better understand and care for their companion animals. We do more than just rescue, we DRIVE change.
Description
Strawberry Fields Animal Rescue Illinois is a registered 501(c)(3) senior animal rescue serving the Chicagoland area. Senior animals in shelters are most at risk for euthanasia and are often times overlooked. At SFAR we believe all senior animals deserve to live out the rest of their lives in comfort and peace. After two years of hard work and dedication the board of directors came together and the rescue started to take off. SFAR is 100% foster based. SFAR not only rescues senior animals but also strives to educate the public about animal welfare and animal health. We believe rescue and education go hand in hand. SFAR would not function without the help of volunteers. We are still a young organization and are still building our organizational capacity. We are working hard to build a volunteer network so that we have the ability to save more animals. As we grow, we need people like you - who can help illustrate the work that we do each day and can highlight the impact that we have on the animals and the overall community. We need you. We need your brilliance, your drive, your expertise and your passion. It goes without saying that your support in this role would help build the foundation we need to reach new programmatic heights.
