The Mission of DinoMights is to equip our urban youth to develop Physical, Academic, Social and Spiritual excellence. At DinoMights we build long-term relationships with at-risk youth in South Minneapolis to provide the support every child needs to grow into a self-assured, competent adult.

Our programs include hockey teams and training, tutoring and academic support, mentoring, service projects, and spiritual development opportunities. We connect with youth in the Phillips, Central and Powderhorn Park neighborhoods in Minneapolis from their early elementary years through high school graduation.

HOCKEY COACH

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Mentoring youth and teaching hockey.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attend volunteer training sessions,Wednesday or Thursday morning practices, Saturday practices/games, submit and pass background check, drive players, abide by all DinoMight policies.

REQUIRED:
Embody and embrace mission of DinoMights, sensitivity to diversity and love for youth, ability to skate. Desired (but not required): Hockey background.

DAY & TIMES OF OPPORTUNITY:
Saturday mornings and or afternoons, Wednesday or Thursday mornings 6:45-8:00am, occasional weeknights. October through March. 3-7 hours per week.

OPPORTUNITY IS APPROPRIATE FOR:
Adult or Teens/Youth (Age range: 16 or older)

ACADEMIC TUTOR - ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Mentoring youth, teaching basic reading and math skills, and homework help. Note: elementary tutors focus primarily on reading.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attend volunteer training sessions, participate in Tuesday afternoon tutoring sessions, submit and pass background check, drive students (veteran adult tutors only) to and from tutoring, abide by all DinoMight policies.

REQUIRED:
Embody and Embrace mission of DinoMights. Sensitivity to diversity, love for youth, posses 10th grade or higher academic level. Desired: Strong educational interest.

DAY & TIMES OF OPPORTUNITY:
Tuesdays 5:00pm-6:00pm October 20 through Spring Break. 1-2 hours per week

Adults or Teens/Youth (Age range: 16 and older)
