we deal with youth emancipating out of the foster care system (16-24) we know and teach our mentors the horrific statistics of their lack of education, homelessness, incarceration rate, etc.
Minimum 12 months, minimum meeting 2x per month (2-4 hrs) also we have once a month group gathering (men tee & mentor and staff from Fostering Hope LA) we have also designed themes for each month.
Our mentees also go through a highly successful 8 week job/life skills which has been around for 21 years now. Each mentor also has a copy of the student workbook and must come to 2 of the classes and participate. Also contact their men-tee every week to make sure they have completed their 2 lessons for the week, and make sure their mentee will be attending their required 2x a week classes(we meet Tues & Thur from 4:00-6:30) - We also host a full on graduation and each men tee received a "Notice of Complete" Certificate- Mentor must participate in this graduation ceremony.
We are trying to equip our youth to reach their full potential by this one on one volunteer Christian Mentor who has been trained and committed to walk this 6 month journey of life- help them complete this 8 week coarse- we also provide additional educational resources they might need- from GED, Vocational, Occupational and then we help pair them with Employment opportunities in their communities

Must have a valid drivers license
Must be live scanned
Must be associated with local Christian Church and have Christian values
Must be 26 years or older
Live in Los Angeles County - We need to make sure that our Mentors are available and geographically desirable to insure that they meet with their mentee's on a regular weekly basis.
