ORGANIZATION: Distinguished Gentlemen's Club

  • 7 people are interested

The Distinguished Gentlemen's Club (DGC) is a mentoring initiative created to guide young men through manhood transitions via the building of positive mentor relationships,
servant leadership, and goal-setting practices. Our small group mentoring model teaches our mentees skills that lead to social and self-awareness, self-advocacy, conflict resolution, responsible decision-making, and relationship skills.

Our organization seeks to:
* Provide mentorship to young men ages 8-18 that will allow them to build positive relationships with caring adults.
* Provide a positive atmosphere where young men can learn about college, careers, and opportunities available to them while also preparing them for life after high school.
* Teach young men about the importance of healthy relationships and reproductive health.
* Promote financial literacy.

BECOMING A MENTOR
Thank you for your interest in changing the life of a young man by becoming a mentor! Being a mentor is rewarding and is one of the most important things you can do for a child. A mentor should help a child believe in himself and increase his confidence. A mentor should provide guidance and encouragement, but also ask questions and challenge the mentee. Dedicated consistent time with a child up to 8 hours a month can make a big difference in a young person's life! Time=Influence!
