Family Care Network places Mentors with families and children in the Foster Care system. Our Mentors serve as positive role models who provide support, guidance and friendship for the most at risk in our community. We have a detailed matching criteria based on personality, interests and other relevant factors to help ensure a positive experience for our volunteers.
We are looking for stable adults who can serve as positive role models for the most at risk in our community. A mentor provides support, guidance and friendship all while having a good time out in the community. Great mentor activities include things like going for a hike, visiting the beach, and going to free local events.
We require mentors to undergo a screening process which includes:
1. Live Scan Fingerprinting (which we reimburse you for)
2. Verification of a negative TB test taken within the last 12 months
3. Drug screen (paid for by FCNI)
4. A copy of your DMV record (cost of $5.00 at the DMV), copy of your driver's license, auto registration, and car insurance.
Commitments range from 6 months to up to a 1 year. The average time commitment is 6-8 hours a month broken up in bi-weekly visits but this can be altered depending on your individual situation.
