Cabot Mentoring

Cabot Mentoring mentors serve as role models, active listeners and caring friends to youth living in Cabot. Mentors are matched with a child who shares similar interests, such as reading, cooking, computers, sports, gaming, hiking, fishing, and so on. Mentors and mentees commit to 1 year of meeting 2-4 times per month for an hour or two, and also have the opportunity to attend monthly group activities with other mentoring pairs from the Cabot community. Volunteers receive an initial 2 hour training, and ongoing twice-yearly training. This is a great opportunity to enrich the lives of 2 people at the same time! To find out more about Cabot Mentoring, or to apply to be a mentor, contact program coordinator Susan Socks at cabotmentoring@gmail.com or call (802) 563-2289 ext 227.

Once mentors are officially selected, trained and all background checks are completed, they are matched with a child based on similar interests.
Mentor pairs commit to meet 2-4 times per month for a year. They may meet at the school, or within the Central Vermont community. Activities might include anything from hiking or biking to playing games, sharing books, working on homework or art projects. There are opportunities for group activities throughout the year which provide a chance for pairs to get together in larger group settings.
