Senior Adults for Greater Education, S.A.G.E., is devoted to uniting youth and seniors in their quest to enrich education and leave a legacy for future generations.
S.A.G.E. volunteers are 55 and better and volunteer either weekly or episodically. You can volunteer for an hour a week, (or more) or help with a specific event such as chaperoning school trips, judging science fairs etc. Our volunteers work in classrooms and help students who might be struggling, as well as assist students who need enrichment.
Once prospective volunteers have obtained their clearances, they are matched with a teacher who requested help. We have a detailed volunteer application so that when you are placed, it is with you in mind- your interests, your time available, your past history etc.
Our research shows that our volunteers report receiving more than they give.
Please contact us at 215-357-2332 to learn more, or email us at beasage03@aol.com
We look forward to welcoming you to our family!
Our volunteers must go through a criminal background check as well as a police check. The school district where the volunteer will be working conducts these clearances free of charge. Our volunteers also receive training so that they feel comfortable in the classroom.
We look for those individuals who are kind, giving and patient.
Once matched volunteers and their teacher partners usually create a friendship that carries over from one academic year to the next. SAGE volunteers report feeling younger, healthier and happier than before they began. Students love having our volunteers in the classroom and teachers welcome the extra assistance that our volunteers offer.
