Founded in 1997, Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar (CRSAS) helps promising underserved high school students in Albany, Schenectady and Troy, NY graduate from high school, succeed in college and become leaders in their communities. Students attend weekly tutoring sessions, receive financial assistance, and are paired with a mentor.
Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar mentors meet with students once a month, and often communicate by phone or text between meetings. Sponsor-A-Scholar is seeking individuals who want to make a difference in a student's life by becoming a mentor. Mentors are college-educated professionals who help guide students through the college search and selection process, providing advice and support for students to achieve the necessary milestones to succeed in high school and college. We ask mentors to make a commitment to their student to support them for four years--from their sophomore year in high school to the end of their freshman year of college.
