Big Brothers Big Sisters of Effingham County is a mentoring program for children ages 5-13. We are a satellite office of Mid-Illinois Big Brothers Big Sisters which is an affiliate of the larger organization Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Effingham County is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. We offer Community Based Mentoring services throughout Effingham County and School Based Mentoring Services at Altamont Elementary School.

Since beginning services in 2009, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Effingham County has has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. Most children served by Big Brothers Big Sisters are in single-parent and low-income families or households. Our organization strives to make meaningful matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles"). These matches are monitored and supervised by trained professional staff who work at creating the best possible outcomes for our volunteers and children.
