Communities In Schools (CIS) of Chesterfield's Lunch Buddy program is a Quality-Based Mentoring Program as recognized by the Virginia Mentoring Partnership. CIS of Chesterfield was one of the first four Virginia mentoring programs to achieve this recognition.

CIS of Chesterfield is a dropout prevention program. At each of the nine Chesterfield schools we serve, a CIS Site Coordinator works to identify students and families who could benefit from CIS services. The Site Coordinator connects those students and families with community resources, mentors, before-school & after-school programming, and much more to address academic and non-academic barriers to success in school and in life.

Mentoring is one of the most impactful opportunities we have to offer students and volunteers. The Lunch Buddy program allows students to develop an authentic one-on-one relationship with a caring adult. All CIS Mentoring takes place at school, during school hours under the supervision of the CIS Site Coordinators. Lunch Buddies are asked to commit one hour a week to their student over an entire school year. Mentor opportunities are available for students K-12. If interested, please complete the application on our website: http://www.cisofchesterfield.org/causes/.

Communities In Schools of Chesterfield is interested in recruiting positive, caring adults to serve as mentors for the students that we serve at nine Chesterfield County Public Schools. All CIS mentoring takes place at schoool, during school hours. We serve four elementary schools (Bellwood, Chalkley, Ettrick & Falling Creek), two middle schools (Salem Church Middle and Falling Creek Middle), and three high school (Carver College & Career Academy, LC Bird, & Meadowbrook).
