We provide mentors to children facing adversity by matching them 1-to-1 with a positive adult or high school mentor. Matches are professionally supported by paid staff who recruit, screen, train, match, and support each volunteer/child mentoring relationship. Opportunities exist for those considering being a mentor. Upon completion of screening and acceptance into the program, volunteers may be placed with a child in either a school or community setting.

Volunteers are needed for a minimum commitment of 1 year depending on placement in either a school-based or community-based setting. Volunteers must be in a stable situation in their personal life, work, and mental health. Volunteer must pass background checks, application, screening, interview and other assessment by program staff. Volunteers must be consistent, be able to follow guidelines and accept support and supervision from professional staff once matched with a child and for the duration of the relationship. The volunteer is there to be a friend/mentor, not a parent our counselor. Activities are based on the child's needs, the volunteers interests, and recommendations from professional staff. Activities center around hobbies, interests, academic needs, and generally fun for both the child and volunteer. Our goal is to help children develop into a caring, competent, and confident young adult; while succeeding in school and life. Volunteers are there to provide an alternative way of viewing life and how to handle experiences in a positive way.
