Summary : This individual will directly assist in either the warehouse or on the frontline to help sort, package, and/or run groceries during our weekly drive-up food distributions on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Major Duties :
- Sort through food donations & organize by food type
- Pack/bag groceries according to program specifications or by food type
- Review food products for expiration dates & damaged packaging
- Interact directly with guests to gather their information & assist with food delivery
- Gather daily assigned groceries into a shopping cart for distribution
- Deliver groceries to guests’ vehicles & help unload groceries as needed
*All volunteers will start in the warehouse before being trained to assist on the frontline
Preferred Qualifications:
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs
- Able to reach, stretch, push and/or pull
- Comfortable standing for long periods of time
- Excellent verbal skills
- Comfortable working outside
- Self-motivated but able to follow directions
- Comfortable interacting with the public
- Ability to work as part of a team

Description
Previously Cordova Community Food Locker, Rancho Cordova Food Locker (RCFL) has been providing emergency food to our community since 1987. As a non-profit charitable organization, RCFL is powered by our volunteers. Our food distributions are every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:30am to 1:20pm and we're currently in need of awesome volunteers (like you!) to help bag, sort, pack, and run groceries during our daily distributions. Volunteer shifts run from 9am-1pm with either a 3 or 4 hour commitment each shift depending on your volunteer role.

REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 14
- Right now we're looking for volunteers who can commit to a consistent schedule (1 day/week, 2 days/month, etc.) for the next 3-6 months. We do accept short-term volunteers but, ideally, we're looking for a long-term commitment.
- All volunteers must complete the volunteer interest application on our website. Minors age 10-12 can volunteer with adult supervision. Minors age 13-17 must have a youth waiver form signed by their parent/legal guardian prior to their first shift.
