Hello Friends of SLO Botanical Garden! As we move into the summer season, SLOBG is busier than ever! With the new $5 entry fee, the Garden needs volunteers who can greet customers. Here's more about this volunteering opportunity! Garden Gift Shop & Office Assistant
Monday, Wednesday-Sunday
9am - 5pm
(2 hour shifts within this time frame)
Seeking experienced Customer Service experts to welcome in visitors to SLO Botanical Garden, educate about our mission at the Garden and handle POS transactions.
At the Garden Gift Shop, you'll get to welcome people in, accept their entry fee and have a perfect opportunity to talk with them about the Garden and all we have to offer! It's really fun meeting our visitors since everyone is in a great mood when they come to SLOBG!
We have 2 hour shifts every day of the week. When it's slow, you'll have some quiet time between visitors. Here's where you can really help out with your office skills to assist with various admin tasks! We've always got lots of things that need doing: organizing supplies, data input, answering phones, stuffing envelopes, making copies & scans, etc. Volunteering at the Gift Shop and office is also a great way to get to know the garden better, learn more about Mediterranean plants and climates and meet other volunteers!!
If you'd like to join our team and volunteer your retail/customer service expertise to support the SLO Botanical Garden, and you've got at least 4-6 hours to give each week, please contact Volunteer Services at: peter@slobg.org to get signed up!

Mission Statement
The mission of the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden is to display the diverse plant life of the Mediterranean climate zones of the world and to provide opportunities for education, recreation, conservation and research. Through its programs and facilities, the Garden will foster an appreciation and understanding of the relationship between people and nature and will encourage a sense of stewardship toward the natural environment.
Description
The San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden is located in El Chorro Regional Park, halfway between San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay on Highway One. It currently consists of a 2.5 acre Preview Garden, Propagation facilities, a Childrens Garden of Exploration, and two straw bale constructed, solar powered buildings, one of which is an educational/meeting facility and the second which is our offices and Library. Our Master Plan envisions a 150 acre garden dedicated to creating and interpreting the Mediterranean climate regions of the world- coastal California, Central Chile, the tip of South Africa, coastal south and southwestern Australia, and the Mediterranean Basin region. This focus is unique in the world of botanical gardens and is part of our effort to link people with plants from around the world that can be grown here in a sustainable manner.
