Table to Table is a community-based food rescue program that collects fresh, wholesome food that would otherwise be wasted and delivers it to community agencies that serve the hungry in Northern New Jersey. In 2020, we rescued enough food for 38 million meals! We have seen an increase in food insecurity since COVID-19 happened. And we're asking for your help to end hunger and food waste.

Our Food Rescue volunteers pick up good, excess food from supermarkets, grocery stores, restaurants, farmer’s markets, caterers and corporate cafeterias and immediately deliver it to nearby soup kitchens, food pantries, group homes and community food programs in Bergen County, NJ.

Volunteers can commit to a weekly food rescue run, or simply check the app daily for pop-up rescues. A rescue can be done within one hour and is a contact-less experience. Volunteers must be appropriately licensed, insured and have their own vehicle. Families and kids are also welcome to volunteer.

If you would like to volunteer, please download the Table to Table I-Rescue app on iOs or Android. You must email volunteer@tabletotable.org to sign a volunteer agreement before beginning any volunteer work.

About Table to Table

Location:

611 Route 46 West, Suite 240, Hasbrouck Heights, NJ 07604, US

Mission Statement

Table to Table is a community-based food rescue program that collects perishable food that would otherwise be wasted and delivers it to organizations that serve the hungry in Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Passaic counties. We "rescue" food from about 150 donors (supermarkets, food distributors, restaurants and commercial kitchens) and deliver it the same day free of charge to over 250 community organizations including food pantries, shelters, day care/after school programs, senior adult centers, and programs serving the working poor. Nearly 2 million people in New Jersey are hungry, including 1 in 5 children. Every day, more families are lining up at food pantries and soup kitchens waiting for our deliveries and each week brings calls from additional agencies asking for our fresh, healthy food. To all of them, this year, we have promised the delivery of more than 39 million meals. But to achieve this goal - we need your support.

Description

Every day Table to Table picks up fresh, wholesome food that otherwise would have been discarded and delivers it safely to soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and places that serve meals to the hungry.

Every day almost every other bite of our food is tragically wasted, but by rescuing the excess we can fight the battle of hunger in our local communities. Food Rescue turns tons of food into countless meals for hungry children and families while at the same time helps to preserve our environment.

Our focus is to provide fresh, healthy food: produce, whole grains and lean protein. We work with a number of local grocery stores (including ShopRite, Whole Foods, Trader Joes and ACME) as well as produce wholesalers and distributors. The food we rescue is delivered to recipient agencies and often served to our hungry neighbors within hours of being rescued!
