Begin Anew of Middle Tennessee

Due to COVID-19 restrictions we do not have children’s program volunteer opportunities at this time. We hope to open this opportunity at most or all of our sites in mid-August 2021.

Are you a Christian who has a heart for children?

Begin Anew is a faith-based education organization working to empower individuals to overcome obstacles caused by poverty by providing education, mentoring, and resources.

Begin Anew operates programs at four locations throughout Middle Tennessee (Woodbine, Downtown Nashville, Madison, and Franklin). We offer classes and tutoring to men and women in High School Equivalency, English Language Learning, and Computer and Job Skills Training, together with weekly Bible study.

We provide no-cost programming for our students’ children to attend while their parents are learning.


Children’s Program Volunteer will agree to uphold the mission, vision, and statement of faith of Begin Anew. Under the guidance and direction of the Children’s Program Coordinator, this volunteer will:

  • Assist in conducting age-appropriate activities for the children (infant through 5 th grade). This will include a Bible study, help with homework as needed, and time for play
  • Perform other tasks or duties as requested or needed
This position requires volunteers to complete an application and pass a background check. Training and resources will be provided to you by the Children’s Program Coordinator and/or Program Manager.

Begin Anew is a faith-based education program working to empower individuals to overcome obstacles created by poverty by providing education, mentoring, and resources.

Begin Anew operates programs at four locations throughout Middle Tennessee (Woodbine, Downtown Nashville, Madison, Franklin). Along with weekly Bible study and no-cost programming and care for our students’ children, we offer three education tracks in separate programs to men and to women:

  • HSE (High School Equivalency)
  • ELL (English Language Learners) accommodating three levels of instruction
  • Computer and Job Skills Training
We provide encouragers and prayer partners so that our students never walk alone as they pursue life changing educational opportunities.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Background Check

  • Orientation or Training
  • Service days and times vary by location.   All our locations offer evening classes from 6pm-8pm, and our Franklin location also offers daytime classes from 9am-noon.  We ask that volunteers commit to one 2.5 hour shift each week.
  • Experience caring for children is helpful, but not required. We are looking for energetic, caring volunteers who will serve our children while their parents are in classes. Training and resources will be provided.
