Yardwork Help for Older Adult Households

ORGANIZATION: A Little Help

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

A Little Help is looking for volunteers that would be interested in helping an older adult member of A Little Help in the Roaring Fork Valley with gardening and yardwork. Grass is green...flowers are blooming...and yardwork is waiting! Pitch in to help an older adult household keep up their curb appeal. Lend a hand with planting, weeding, mulching and raking. Bring the kids to help pick up sticks. As more individuals choose to "age in place" as they get older, some older adults find the maintenance to be overwhelming, and yet, property owners need to keep their properties safe and well-maintained to follow city regulations. Yardwork can pose unique challenges because it may require strength, endurance, or working when it’s hot outside. Lending a helping hand can go a long way to help some older adults keep up with having a safer and more secure home environment where they can connect with nature and take refuge. Your visit may even keep them from feeling isolated and depressed and provide them a sense of community that empowers and energizes them.

Volunteering with A Little Help is very flexible and accommodating with whatever else you have going on in your life - simply select opportunities off of A Little Help’s HelpConnect Volunteer Portal that match your interests and available time. Be Kind - Feel Great!

Contact A Little Help to begin making a difference in your community. We will have you fill out our Volunteer Application and Background Check online at alittlehelp.org then you can begin to help an Older Adult Household in your area and make our community stronger.

About A Little Help

Location:

2755 S Locust St, #220, Denver, CO 80222, US

Mission Statement

A Little Help is a nonprofit organization that connects neighbors of all ages to help older adults thrive in their homes and in their communities.

Description

A Little Help connects volunteers with older adults to help them with tasks like yardwork, transportation, and errand running to help them age well in their homes. We serve older adults in Metro Denver/Jefferson County, Fort Collins and Berthoud/Loveland, and in the Western Slope.

A Little Help
is based on the Village Model in which local resources and people of all ages are brought together to benefit both older adult members and the greater community. Sharing talents, resources and building intergenerational relationships allow older adults to age safely and thrive in their homes. Studies have shown that those who live longer, healthier lives have close relationships with their neighbors and continually find new purpose as they age.
