FOOD PANTRY VOLUNTEERS -
Volunteers are needed at Bread for the City's Southeast Center (1700 Good Hope Road SE) to assist each day with food packing. Volunteers are also needed To help with Food Packing for our clients with non-perishable items.

The closest metro stop is Anacostia on the green line. The B2, V2, and W6 buses will drop you off across the street from the center at 16th and Good Hope Road SE. You can also walk approximately 17 minutes from the metro to access the center. All volunteers are required to complete Bread for the City's general liability waiver, and a parent must sign for individuals under the age of 18. We do not have locker space, so please refrain from bringing big or bulky items.

NON MEDICAL VOLUNTEERS-

Thank you for supporting Bread for the City's COVID-19 relief efforts! Bread for the City is offering COVID testing in our SE Center every Monday and Wednesday. Volunteers are needed to do registration and some data entry work.

  • All new volunteers need to sign the Medical Liability Waiver and other documents before starting the shift

  • No medical experience necessary (tasks are mostly administrative)

  • PPE will be provided (face mask, face shield, gloves, hand sanitizer)

  • Address: 1700 Good Hope Road SE (Bread for the City SE site)

CLOTHING ROOM VOLUNTEERS-
Thank you for your support in Bread For The City Clothing room, Volunteers are needed to help Sort clothes, Help individual clients with clothing items, Restock clothing items, etc.

    FARMERS MARKET VOLUNTEERS ONLY ! (EVERY 4TH FRIDAY OF EACH MONTH)
  • morning / 09:00 AM to 11:45 AM
    This shift is for Food Pantry Volunteers ONLY
  • 09:00 AM to 02:00 PM
    CLOTHING ROOM VOLUNTEERS ONLY!!
  • afternoon / 12:30 PM to 03:00 PM
    This Shift is for non-medical Volunteers ONLY (EVERY MONDAY & WEDNESDAY)
  • NONE OF THESE TIMES WORK FOR ME, BUT I CAN STILL HELP

Each day, Bread for the City partners with community members like you. Volunteers serve in every Bread for the City department, and whether you can give two hours or two hundred hours, we thank you for taking a step to help!
