Share your love for hairstyling while making a real difference in our community. You have the chance to provide hope and dignity to those who are homeless or struggling to make ends meet and don’t have the resources for a haircut. Whether it’s helping someone feel confident for a job interview or simply showing that they matter, your skills can truly brighten someone’s day.

Time Commitment:

• This is an ongoing opportunity (6+ months), and we’re looking for a weekly commitment from volunteers or interns.
• You can pick one shift a month or choose to do more, based on your schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

• Give haircuts to people who are currently experiencing homelessness or are living on a tight budget, including clients at various Interfaith programs (like Recuperative Care, Recovery & Wellness, and Transitional Housing).
• Create a friendly and welcoming environment where clients feel comfortable and relaxed.
• Build a genuine connection with each person, making it easy to communicate and understand their needs.
• Take the time to discuss styles that suit their features and preferences.
• Listen to what clients want and be open to their ideas.
• Approach each interaction with patience and understanding.
• Keep your work area clean and organized, ensuring a safe and healthy space.

Qualifications:

• You should have completed a barber or cosmetology program and be working toward your license.
• A clean background check is required.
• Experience in customer service and connecting with people is a must.
• You should feel comfortable working with a diverse range of individuals.
• It’s important to bring empathy, kindness, and respect into every interaction.
• You should be able to quickly form bonds with clients.

• Your professionalism, leadership, initiative, good judgment, and attention to detail will help you succeed in this role.
