We are looking for someone in our community who is ready to take the lead on marketing, event planning, fundraising, and sustainability initiatives! If you are a self-motivated, detail-oriented, creative collaborator that can still zoom out and see the bigger picture, we want YOU to join Lakes Area Community Coalition in "building a healthy, vibrant, drug-free community" through your position as Development Committee Chair!
If you have experience in fundraising, donor development, or strategic marketing, awesome! If not, that’s okay too - just be ready to learn and continually strengthen your skills and knowledge.
Some of the typical tasks and responsibilities are listed below:
- Scheduling meetings, creating an agenda with relevant topics, engaging all committee members in the conversation surrounding the topics, and taking notes
- Creating conversations that stimulate creativity/potential for new initiatives and also recognizing logistical aspects of ideas presented
- Sharing a monthly update with the Board of Directors
- Working with the Executive Director and Project Coordinator to create and lead event-specific/fundraiser-specific taskforces to plan key events (Love of the Lakes Volunteer Appreciation Banquet, Prevention Summit Community Education Event, Pedal for Prevention Cycling Fundraiser, etc.)
- Help host organized events (greet attendees, donor relations, venue/activity details, etc.)
- Recognizing long-term and short-term tasks and bringing them to the attention of Board Members and Staff Members
- Support marketing efforts on a broader scale and be willing to get involved in completing the smaller tasks that must get done
- Ensure that development committee funds are spent responsibly
Do these tasks seem like something you are interested in doing? Then, the Development Committee Chair might be a position where you can make a positive impact on our community. And if these tasks and responsibilities as Chair don’t interest you, but you still want to be involved with all the impactful events and initiatives our Development Committee leads, don’t worry - we have a spot open for a Development Committee Member as well!
Please note that there will be an approximate two-month-long overlap period between you and the current Development Committee Chair, so you will be able to get all of your questions answered. Also, this means that you don’t have to have the perfect skill set right now, just a passion to learn.
If you are interested in learning more about what it means to be a Development Committee Chair, have any questions, or ready to start please click the "I Want to Help" button above or reach out to hanna@lakesareacc.org .
