Sanctuary Hostel located in Rosarito, MX is a project to create an eco friendly animal shelter/ hostel/ community garden where we will work with other nonprofits in both Mexico and the US specifically San Diego, CA. Our model plans to be self-sustaining in that we will not rely solely on donations and thus not be at risk of returning animals to the streets. We have the land and are working with an architect to design custom buildings.

As we are a brand new non profit organization we want to bring people into our organization to help us make this a successful project that can act as a model for animal rescues worldwide.

Receiving both a financial commitment and operational guidance would make it possible to build the shelter sooner than planned and drive a more effective business model.

Currently, we are seeking additional board members to help us grow the organization by bringing their professional expertise, working with like-minded people who have a passion for our vision and mission. In this position, you would be involved in making executive decisions, helping us shape the next chapter of the organization, and committing to help us overcome challenges. This requires a serious commitment and a passion for both animals and the community.

We are specifically looking for board members with backgrounds in:

  • Legal
  • Finance
  • Business
  • Shelter Operations
  • Fundraising
  • Grants

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support with generating funds and maximizing resources

  • Help with promotions, activities, fundraising, etc, as and when needed
  • Ensure self-evaluation of the Board at the Annual General Meeting
  • Act as an ambassador for the organization in the wider community
  • Stay abreast of community issues relevant to the ongoing success of the organization

Expectations:

Accountability - The Board of Directors is collectively accountable to clients and their families, the community, funders, and other stakeholders. Any Board member is therefore accountable for supporting the organization in achieving its goals. This includes attending all committee meetings, ensuring all reports are delivered in a timely manner as required and responding to all emails and correspondences within 24 to 48 hours.

Passion - with a fervent desire to support animals and eco-travelling whilst contributing to the organization annually. Honest, reliable and dedicated to the cause.
