The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire (TMC) needs volunteers to train as Mediators and also to support for our mediations. The Mediation Center is a nonprofit agency. Our mission is to help citizens resolve disputes. We accomplish our mission by providing mediation, restorative justice, family law, and parenting classes. Currently, we have 90+ volunteer mediators that help citizens facilitate conversations, identify issues, brainstorm solutions, and resolve conflict.

We are looking for highly motivated volunteers. There is need for Mediators in a range of dynamic programs including in our office, online, in schools and settings with at-risk populations, To support our Mediators, we need volunteers with some experience with technology and Zoom (this is a plus, but not required), are detail-oriented, and desire to help others and learn.

We provide specific trainings based on the type of Mediation where a volunteer wishes to contribute. For the technology volunteer, a 1-hour training is offered and there are videos, etc to learn this role. echnologies and software used include a PC or Mac, Zoom, Adobe Sign, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, PDF tool.

Mediations are scheduled in the morning and afternoon and generally last 1-3 hours. There is a great deal of flexibility to work with your schedule. If you'd be able to volunteer with us in any capacity, we would love to hear from you, and we'll inform you of upcoming Mediation Support training dates.
