ORGANIZATION: Arizona Museum of Natural History

The Lobby Visitor Services Volunteer works in the Arizona Museum of Natural History. Duties include: greeting visitors as they arrive and thanking them as they depart; volunteer may assist visitors and front desk staff by helping manage the line and assisting with greeting and providing directions to visiting school groups. They may provide instructions for visitors to scan their tickets if they purchased them in advance; volunteer may also encourage visitors to visit the store and complete a survey following their visit.

Additionally, the volunteer may be asked to assist visiting "Meet the Scientist" volunteers and other outreach activities and events. The volunteer in this assignment will learn about the fossils and other objects in the lobby and may do some gallery interpretation of the Ice Age Lobby exhibits.

3 Shifts

  • 10:00 AM to 01:00 PM MST - FULL
    Tuesday - Saturday
  • 12:00 PM to 04:00 PM MST - FULL
    Sundays
  • 01:00 PM to 04:00 PM MST - FULL
    Tuesday-Saturday

Description

In the spring of 1977, the City of Mesa opened the Mesa Museum of Archeology and History, later renamed Mesa Southwest Museum. In 2007 the Mesa Southwest Museum was renamed Arizona Museum of Natural History. It was created for the enjoyment of Mesa residents and visitors as part of the City of Mesa's continuing commitment to provide educational, cultural and recreational opportunities.
