GradPrep Volunteer Mentor Position Description 2021

Responsibilities of GradPrep Volunteer Mentors :
- Mentors will help mentee(s) make progress toward fulfilling their academic and career goals.
- Mentors will maintain contact with their mentee(s) monthly and provide support throughout their journey with GradPrep.
- Mentors will help their mentee(s) build networking skills with peers, college faculty, career professionals, etc.
What GradPrep Volunteer Mentors offer to their mentee(s) :

- A personalized approach to guidance and mentoring
- Inspiration, motivation, and connection through shared experiences
- Coaching - bringing a different perspective to situations by asking the mentee(s) questions and offering experiential challenges between meetings

- Humility - willingness to learn from your mentee(s) as well
To qualify you must :
- Have a genuine desire to work with high school or college students
- Have the ability to relate to mentee(s) from a variety of backgrounds and abilities
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- Have the ability and desire to work as a team member within GradPrep’s approach
- Connect with GradPrep’s vision, mission, and values
GradPrep Volunteer Mentors must demonstrate the following characteristics :

Training and Required Activities :
- Training will be provided
- Mentors will connect virtually or in person with their mentee(s) at least once a month.
- We prefer mentors who will commit to their mentee(s) until they reach their goals.

About The Global Graduate Preparatory Program (GradPrep)
As a result of MBADiversity’s growth and achievement, and because of feedback from members who wish to pursue interdisciplinary or other graduate degrees, The Global Graduate Preparatory Program (GradPrep) was conceptualized in 2007 to assist with the multidisciplinary pre-application process, professional and spiritual development of its members.
GradPrep assists with professional development that allows members to gain confidence and relevant knowledge in the job market and their selected vocation. Members also participate in cross-cultural training and, through our Global Immersion Module (GIM), have the opportunity to strengthen their global acumen through international internships and engaging in humanitarian and missionary projects.
One of the charitable missions of GradPrep is to help low-income, underserved students who have enormous potential but may lack access to test preparation, graduate school application counseling, or guidance in exploring discipline specialties.
