ORGANIZATION: JEWISH HOME FOR THE AGING OF ORANGE COUNTY dba Heritage Pointe

Founded more than 30 years ago, nonprofit Heritage Pointe provides assisted living and memory care services to seniors in Mission Viejo, CA.

Heritage Pointe is looking for 5 Group Discussion Leaders who will volunteer ON SITE once or twice a month for a shift of 2 hours at a time.

Choose one from the following topics: America’s Founding Fathers, Daily Life in the Ancient World, The World’s Greatest Geological Wonders, Fundamentals of Travel Photography, Inventions that Changed the World, or Liberty on Trial in America. You will be assigned a group of Residents who are interested in that topic. You'll all watch a selection of the DVD (around 45 min) and then talk about what you saw and supervise the discussion.
The dates and times are flexible.
This position can also be used for community service hours.
Reminder: this is an in-person on-site opportunity and cannot be done remotely.

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 18
  • 2 hour shifts twice a month (every other week). Can be weekly if desired.
  • Ability to load a DVD in a DVD player and play the selection. Talking in small group situations. Gently guiding the group discussion. Allowing all members of the Resident group a chance to talk and be appreciated.
