Volunteers with Church World Service will participate in our Refugee Mentor Program to promote civic and social engagement and support individual and vocational advancement.

Volunteers are needed to develop a relationship with refugees to provide support, guidance, friendship, opportunities to learn life and career skills, and assist them in becoming self-sufficient and integrated members of US society.

CWS South Florida welcomes, feeds, and clothes newcomers; reunites and strengthens families, and enables resettled immigrants to become self-sufficient and integrated members of US society.

CWS first opened an office in Miami, Florida in 1960 in response to the immediate needs of refugees fleeing Cuba during the aftermath of the revolution. Since then, CWS South Florida has grown and expanded its programs into Broward and Palm Beach County, providing continued resettlement and legal support to subsequent waves of refugees from Cuba, Colombia, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Burma, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, as well as Cubans and Haitians Entrants and other immigrant groups.
