ORGANIZATION: OC Habitats

  • 12 people are interested

The purpose of the Marine Protected Area Watch (MPA Watch) program is to document all human uses in Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). This data collected is used by state and local agencies, non profit organizations and the public to make decisions on how to allocate resources to MPAs.

This recruitment is for the Orange County MPA region which ranges from Bolsa Chica to Dana Point. To become a participant, volunteers must watch a pre-recorded orientation video (~1 hr) and then attend an 1 in-person training. Once they are trained, they can survey any MPA Watch segment on any day at any time and simply log the survey data into the database (you would receive an account after training is completed).

This program is perfect for anyone who loves the beach, wants volunteer experience, or is interested in marine conservation policy and management.
