ORGANIZATION: Listen for Life

ListenForLife.org is an umbrella organization for many different ongoing projects, programs, and productions, all designed to advance our mission of "inspiring and empowering musicians of all cultures to use their gifts in the service of others". We were founded in London UK in 1998, grew to encompass volunteers/offices in over 45 countries within 3 years, and then moved the headquarters to the USA. An all-volunteer organization, we have learned over the years that we didn't need brick and mortar offices in ANY location, and that we could create life-changing projects to involve each musician in his/her own community, with a very slimmed-down board and budget (solely based on individual donations) - and this approach has seen us through recessions, COVID, and other challenges to nonprofits that are 100 times our size.

We have just celebrated our 23rd anniversary and decided it is time to allow our long-serving board members and officers to relax a bit, so we are in the process of building a mostly-new board that will include one representative director from each of our current main projects, along with professionals from a variety of other industries and skill sets, and of course some ListenForLife musicians!

Legendary opera singer Frederica von Stade has offered to be on our board, as she is the founder of one of our newest projects. But you do not have to be a musician to serve with us in a board or advisory capacity - you just need to love, admire and respect the power of music and musicians to make a difference in your own community, and want to use your gifts in order to help them use theirs!

Experience being a board member at all levels/sizes of organizations is a big plus, of course, but we also welcome "newbies" of all ages to consider the possibility of such service. Our meetings will be virtual, not more than once per month and not less than 3 times per year.
We welcome corporate executives, small business owners, foundation executives, chamber of commerce members, parents, grandparents, recent grads wanting to experience the nonprofit world, techies, attorneys, accountant/finance types, webmasters or programmers, experienced grant writers, corporate sponsorship professionals, admin/office mgmt types, strategic planners, project managers in any field, networking mavens, advertising/marketing gurus, graphic designers, videographers and television or radio producers, education/curriculum creators or teachers, creative writers/bloggers, social media influencers, social studies innovators, travelers, and all passionate music listeners!
We only have room for relatively few board members but would also love to create a new volunteer Advisory/Project board combining people with as many different skill sets as possible, from as many different locations as possible.
So if any of this intrigues you, please check out our website ListenForLife.org and our two YouTube channels: ListenForLife1 and LFL NotesForNourishment
