Help from the comfort of your own home by being the first "face" of the Red Cross for new volunteers. You will contact new volunteer applicants to discuss their skills, interests and availability. You will match new volunteers with the needs of the organization and connect them with positions for which they are both interested and well suited. You are able to schedule screening interviews at your convenience. You will need access to internet, phone and email. These skill sets also are useful for volunteer screeners:
- Broad understanding of the American Red Cross and its opportunities for volunteer service (training provided).
- Enthusiastic about American Red Cross programs.
- Ability to work with computer database (training provided).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills - ability to express ideas and facts clearly.
- Comfortable making phone calls to volunteers.
- Previous experience with customer service is a plus.
- HR experience or experience conducting interviews a plus.

The American Red Cross Central Appalachia Region includes all of West Virginia, plus counties in Ohio, Kentucky, Maryland and Virginia. We serve our communities every day by responding to local disasters, encouraging life-saving blood donations, preparing our communities for emergencies and providing care and comfort to an ill or injured service member or veteran or support to a military family member. 90% of our workforce are volunteers and it is through the time and care of ordinary people that we can do extraordinary things.
