Helping Paws Inc. needs volunteer foster homes to help raise and train service dogs for people with physical disabilities. Volunteers agree to take a 7-12-week-old puppy into their home and attend required weekly training classes at our Hopkins Training Center for approximately two years. In addition, volunteers will socialize and train the dogs in public settings such as work, restaurants, movie theaters, stores etc.The dogs then are then placed with an individual with a physical disability to assist them in daily living tasks. Ther service dog is trained to pick up dropped items, open/close doors, carry items, and much, much more. This is a true gift of love and friendship you can make for both the dog and it's new partner!
