We are happy to announce the opening of our Summer Leadership Summit (SLS) and officer applications for the summer of 2021. The SLS and officer applications are great opportunities for students to gain leadership experience in healthcare, medicine, public policy, journalism, and more.

The SAPP Summer Leadership Summit is a one week leadership/internship program hosted VIRTUALLY between 6/28-7/2 and is eligible to all rising freshman to rising seniors in high school. We will be hosting guest speakers, RESEARCH projects, presentations, debates, discussions, workshops, webinars, and more on menstrual health! If you’re interested or have children that are interested in working or majoring in a public health, healthcare, social justice, journalism, or public policy field, this summer program is for you! Service hours will be handed out for attendees as well and are eligible towards our Presidential Volunteer Service Award. For more information about the summer program/internship we highly recommend checking out this link: tinyurl.com/sappSLS2021 :))

As for officer applications, you can look through the officer position descriptions we’ll be offering through this link ( tinyurl.com/sappofficerpositions2021). Rising freshman through rising seniors in high school are all eligible. Though no previous experience with SAPP is required, we will factor in previous volunteering or work done with SAPP as well. We are offering a wide-range of positions from head media officers, head communications officers, tech officers, communications officers, supply officers, and others so if you’re interested we’d highly suggest you check out the link above. There is no interview required but prospective officers MUST attend the Summer Leadership Summit unless a valid excuse is given as we’ll be evaluating your participation in the summer program to determine who is fit for our team.

The due dates for both applications will be JUNE 20TH and it is an all-in-one application. APPLICATION LINK: tinyurl.com/2021sappsummerapps

SAPP only open programs and officer positions of this magnitude once yearly so if you’d like to join our highly successful officer team or this summer internship program, this is your chance! If you have any questions, comments or concerns, you can check us out at our website at sappusa.org where you’ll see our other advocacy work, newspaper features and opportunities as well, contact us at contact@sappusa.org, or you can shoot us a message as well. We hope to see you apply!

Mission Statement

Students Against Period Poverty strives to alleviate impoverished menstruators from period poverty in our communities through service, education, and advocacy, one menstruator at a time.

Description

At Students Against Period Poverty we pride ourselves on alleviating impoverished menstruators from period poverty in our communities. Our nonprofit was founded in April of 2020 as a community group to combat the lack of awareness of period poverty during the pandemic and slowly grew to a full-fledged nonprofit where we are now. Today, we've expanded to 4 chapters across the Bay Area (Fremont (headquarters), Milpitas, Union City, and Cupertino) while offering a wide range of services from volunteer programs for volunteers to create menstrual care packages and letters for shelters (tinyurl.com/cappitguide), anonymous grab-n-go menstrual item pickups in the SF Bay Area, menstrual health lessons to schools, a period product request form, and more!
