Do you want an active volunteer role? Are you a people person? Do you also love to mix it up with simple computer work? We need your help at our Colorado Springs Distribution Center! Care and Share receives millions of pounds of donated food each year and we wouldn’t be able to get it to our neighbors in need without volunteer support.
Title: Front Desk/Agency Checkout Steward
Purpose: This role is critical in providing millions of meals annually to the most vulnerable members of our community at risk of hunger. This volunteer role truly makes a critical difference to provide food to our neighbors in need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome partner agencies coming to the loading dock.
- Locate agency orders and physically bring their order to them via a pallet jack
- Welcome donors and visitors.
- Accept food donations
- Enter orders into warehouse management system (CERES)
Qualifications:
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Ability to operate a pallet jack (training provided)
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Comfortable using basic computer programs.
- Minimum age of 18.
Skills:
- Ability to read, write and follow directions.
- Ability to work a pallet jack (training will be provided)
- Basic math (addition and subtraction)
- Basic computer skills (training provided on specific tasks)
- Welcoming and friendly

Shifts:
- Thursdays
- 8:00am-1:00pm
Commitment:
- This volunteer position is very rewarding, and a significant amount of training is required.
- We ask that volunteers be able to commit to at least 1 volunteer shift per week. More shifts are welcome!
- A minimum commitment of 3 months is required.

At Care and Share Food Bank, we believe that no one should go hungry. Every day, we provide food to our partner agencies across Southern Colorado for our neighbors in need because well-fed communities are better for us all. Care and Share exists to ensure that the one in seven Southern Coloradoans at risk of hunger have access to enough healthy and nutritious food to thrive. We know that children without adequate access to food cannot develop successfully, families cannot plan for their future, and seniors find it more difficult to remain independent.
