What's up Sacramento!? Have you always wanted to learn how to run a braille printer? (Technically it’s called a braille embosser, but we’ll teach you how to use it if you don’t already know how.) You will take the digital file for the braille book and emboss it onto paper and comb bind it into a book!

Sacramento Braille Transcribers, Inc. is a nonprofit and we are looking for at least two volunteers to run the braille production equipment. (We are based in Sacramento, CA.)

It will be a very minimal time investment, since we are slow right now, but we really need someone to be in charge of the production. Please apply!

Qualifications

You don't need to know braille but you do need to be a good problem solver, be a self-starter, and have a keen attention to detail. It’s vital that you are reliable, since we will be depending on you to produce the braille books to our customers. You also need to enjoy working solo, since you’ll have the office space to yourself.

The ideal candidate would enjoy doing assembly line work with precision machines.

Responsibilities

  • Run the braille production equipment (we have two Braillo 200s and a Formax Burster)
  • Box up the braille books and drop them off at the Post Office
  • Maintain the digital inventory spreadsheet, so the Admin can reorder supplies like paper
  • Keep the office space tidy

The only caveat is that we need you to be available during the week to run the machines. We can only access our office space Monday- Friday from 8am to 1pm. But as things reopen more, the building that we rent space in will be open in the evenings and on weekends.

We are looking to fill these positions ASAP. To apply, please contact us and explain why you’d be a good fit for the position. We look forward to hearing from you.
