The Mi CASA Summer Camp will run for 5 weeks this summer in-person from July 7th -August 7th on Mondays - Thursdays, at our recreational center, Terasaki Budokan. Volunteer Camp Counselors will support and engage with youth, ages 6-18, residing in LTSC affordable housing and surrounding low-income neighborhoods. We are in need of motivated and enthusiastic volunteers to support our program and youth participants this summer!

Volunteers must be committed to at least one full day per week consistently Monday-Thursday from 11:30 AM - 6:00 PM, but otherwise scheduling is flexible. Scheduling on Thursdays will vary as they are field trip days.

Please note our protocols to protect youth and staff from COVID-19 and other illnesses. Our required safety guidelines and protocols are as follows:

  • Tables and chairs must be wiped/sanitized at the end of each program day.
  • We ask that all staff, volunteers, and participants to notify Mi CASA staff if you test positive for COVID-19, and to stay home if you are not feeling well to help prevent the spread of germs and viruses.
  • It is not required, but we strongly encourage providing proof of vaccination!

Some of the daily responsibilities are as follows:

  • Take initiative to engage in sports and other planned activities with youth participants
  • Support partners / facilitators during activities through classroom management, passing out supplies, and assisting youth
  • Lead and mentor youth participants by modeling positive behavior, engaging in activities with an open mind, and uphold Mi CASA Guidelines
  • Plan and lead activities / recreational engagement for our youth particpants
  • Help ensure the safety and well-being of the youth at all times. This includes supervising all youth at all times, checking in with youth, actively participating with youth in the activities, and helping participants whenever they may need support.
  • Daily set-up/clean-up of chairs, tables, equipment, supplies, taking out the trash, etc.
  • Assist youth participants with check-in/check-out when they arrive and leave
  • Prep and distribute snacks / food to youth during snack time
  • Other tasks as assigned by Mi CASA staff
