Community engagement coordinator (Part time-volunteer)
DEPARTMENT: Volunteer Programs
ACCOUNTABILITY: on-going/ part time
FUNCTION: The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for facilitating and coordinating
community engagement strategy for Veternation, with a particular focus on building relationships with
local veterans, volunteers, local community partners and service providers. The Community Engagement Coordinator will work closely with Veternation volunteers to assist in the overall coordination of services and opportunities to ensure adherence to the organization mission and values.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communicating with clients or employers about project, event or campaign expectations and goals
Collaborating with clients or employers, finance teams and other team members on budgeting and allocating funds
Delegating tasks to appropriate team members
Managing deadlines and progress across the team to ensure the project is delivered on time and on budget
Organizing third-party providers and vendors to deliver elements that can’t be produced in-house
Overseeing the delivery of projects and making adjustments as necessary to ensure they are delivered to specifications and high standards
Collecting and analyzing feedback from customers and other project users to gauge satisfaction and success
Cultivate relationships across diverse communities to provide new opportunities for local veterans.
Facilitate regular community meetings to foster relationship building, collaboration, and promote
services for veterans. This includes strengthen relationships with partners, identifying and addressing improvements to working together.
Serve as an advocate in the community to ensure that the needs of local veterans transitioning to
civilian life are a priority in the systems designed to support them and the broader community.
Conduct outreach, recruitment and screening for community partners, financial coaches, professional development partners, and other volunteers.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
1.) Part time volunteer work hours, including weekends and evenings as scheduled.
2.) While performing the aforementioned duties of this job, the employee is regularly
required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee
is frequently required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. The
employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or
crawl and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close
vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust
focus.
3.) Frequent contact with public in a fast-paced and changing work environment,
which, at times, may be stressful or emotionally charged.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Military veteran or military affiliation required.
2. Experience working with volunteers preferred.
3. Excellent customer service skills.
4. Ability to read and interpret written instructions such as procedure manuals.
5. Able to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
6. Shows maturity, good judgement and performs duties in a professional manner.
7. Ability to operate a personal computer, word processing and data management software, copy machine, facsimile, and answer telephones in the prescribed manner.

AS COMMUNITY CARE COORDINATORS WE ARE ABLE TO PROVIDE REFERRALS, CASE MANAGEMENT, AND SERVICE COORDINATION.
