ORGANIZATION
Join the Koreatown Youth and Community Center (KYCC) to plant trees, beautify our neighborhoods and leave a legacy for the future. We can't do it alone and need your help in greening Los Angeles - learn what it takes to plant a tree and watch it grow for decades to come!
Event Information:
Location: Corner of Gramercy Pl. & W. 48th st.
Date: Saturday, June 5, 2021
Time: 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Impact: Did you know?
Trees absorb enough CO, on each acre, over a years time, to equal the amount you produce when you drive your car 26,000 miles.
Trees increase ground water recharge that is significantly reduced by paving
Strategically placed trees can be as effective as other energy saving home improvements, such as insulation and the installation of weather-tight windows and doors. Trees can help reduce your heating and cooling costs
Trees can help cool the "heat island" effect in our inner cities. These islands result from storage of thermal energy in concrete, steel and asphalt. Heat islands are 3 to 10 degrees warmer than the surrounding countryside.
Healthy trees can add up to 15 percent to residential property value.
Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities: Volunteers will work in small teams to dig holes, plant trees and attach stakes to beautify our communities and build a healthier Los Angeles for everyone.
Requirements:
Youth under the age of 18 MUST bring a signed parent consent (provided upon signup).
Please be sure to wear a mask, wear closed-toed shoes, bring a water bottle and be ready to dig!
This is a great opportunity for groups and those wanting to spend their morning giving back to the community.
Additional Information: All participants must pre-register with KYCC in addition to signing up via Volunteer Match. You will receive further instructions on how to complete registration once you've signed up.
