Learn about the ocean and create stewards of the environment!

Did you know that just steps from the world-famous Venice Boardwalk there are ecosystems teeming with wildlife? Want to explore fascinating tide pools? Rare wetlands? Watch the elusive grunion spawn? (No, they’re not an urban legend!) The Venice Oceanarium is looking for volunteers who share their passion for the ocean to join their team.

Anyone and Everyone is welcome! No Marine Biology knowledge needed - we have plenty to share! Our Docent Training Program will provide you with great tools, resources and education. Bring a curious mind and your passion for the ocean.

Lots of opportunities to get involved, including kids programs, oceanographic research, citizen science and art projects, tech support, behind-the-scenes assistance. Plus, you'll meet like-minded people, make new friends and get cool Venice Oceanarium swag!

There are three intensive, informative and fun training days. 1) Orientation on the Venice Pier. 2) Shoreline Discovery Walk in Venice. 3) Tidepool Talk
They are for 2 hours on Saturdays beginning in July. It is not necessary to attend all three, but we hope you can.

We can't wait to see you at the beach!
