ORGANIZATION: AMERICAN RED CROSS

Since Clara Barton founded the American Red Cross 140 years ago, Red Cross volunteers have stepped up to adapt in the face of change and give hope to people during life’s emergencies. Watch this video to see some of the ways volunteers have met people’s emerging needs: https://vimeo.com/535946634/e13efeeffb

While we can’t stop emergencies from happening, together, we can help ensure that people never face them alone. Join us as a volunteer helping to chart the path forward for years to come! Our most needed volunteer positions are:

Disaster Action Team

Every eight minutes, the Red Cross responds to a disaster in the U.S., and most of these are local home fires. When a home fire leaves a family stranded on the street, local Red Cross volunteers provide emergency financial assistance, emotional support and recovery help to guide them through for their next steps. During COVID-19, volunteers often deliver this support virtually by working with the local fire department to connect with affected residents by phone or video call.

Blood Donor Ambassador

Blood donations are essential to the health of our communities. Blood Donor Ambassadors ensure that blood donors have a pleasant and fulfilling experience, from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave. During a blood drive, whether you’re greeting donors, supporting safety protocols, answering questions or thanking them for their donation, your courtesy and professionalism will create a favorable impression that encourages ongoing donor support.

Transportation Specialist

Blood Transportation Specialists are needed in order to continue delivering lifesaving blood to those in need. Volunteers are needed to drive donations from blood drives to our labs, and from storage facilities to hospitals throughout their community.
