Job Title: Patient Navigator

The Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter is looking for motivated and compassionate individuals to serve lupus patients across Ohio. At this time specifically to serve lupus patients in the Columbus, Ohio area.

This role is on an as-needed basis and hours are flexible to fit the individual's schedule. This volunteer position does give a small stipend to the volunteer. The Chapter is looking for someone who is looking highly committed person to help serve the lupus community. The typical patient navigator is a nurse, social worker, lupus patient/caretaker, medical assistant, health educator, or other health service provider who wants to make a difference by providing support and education to people with lupus, their caregivers, and the community at large. The role is project-based and can be done from the volunteer's home, however, some minimal travel will be required in your local community.

Patient navigators are expected to coordinate and host quarterly events and work from home with on projects;

  • Four support group meetings
  • Four New Patient Education meetings
  • Four meetup groups
  • Chapter Check-In Calls

In addition, the patient navigator is expected to attend one Walk to End Lupus Now event, one lupus education summit, host one fundraising event, attend two health fairs, and ensure local physician’s offices have updated approved lupus literature.

Selected applicants must pass a background check and be able to drive throughout their county. Contractors are required to make provisions for transportation and will be required to use personal vehicles. Proof of auto insurance will also be required. In addition, all applicants must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.

  • We are looking for someone committed to helping lupus patients by supporting and educating the community. We need someone who can speak up and advocate for others. The volunteer will relieve a small stipend for work that is provided for the chapter.
