Help bring vital services and support to seniors and adults with disabilities in the Portland Community through your Volunteer Board Leadership.

The Community for Positive Aging (formerly the Hollywood Senior Center) is seeking new members to join the Board of Directors. We are seeking members who can bring financial acumen, organizational skills, creative thinking, and an understanding of the CFPA's role in the community. In addition, professional non-profit and financial management experience is a plus. This is an unpaid volunteer position.

About the Community for Positive Aging

Hollywood Senior Center was established in 1973 to promote the health, independence, and well- being of adults 55 and older. In 2020 our organization expanded by bringing the services offered by The Giving Tree, a non-profit organization committed to providing residential services to people living in affordable housing throughout Portland, under our management and care. To reflect our organizational growth and expanded programming, we are now taking the opportunity to evolve our brand in order to better communicate the breadth of services that truly represents us and is aligned with our mission and vision. We are now re-launching as the Community For Positive Aging, which includes the Hollywood Senior Center as one of the programs operating under the refreshed organizational name and structure.

This evolution of our organization will continue to reflect our core values and focus and expand our capacity to serve our community even more. We are dedicated to serving as a caring and healthy organization which encourages intergenerational relationships, recognizes the wisdom and experience of elders and demonstrates awareness and respect for the aging process. Positive aging celebrates the strengths and meaningfulness of healthy aging

Community for Positive Aging is at a critical turning point as our organization responds during this global pandemic and continues to serve our client base. With the onset of COVID 19 we immediately designed a new delivery service model to support case managed clients remotely. In addition, like other social service agencies receiving government funding, we are looking for other creative ways to continue to deliver the superb services to population we serve.

Major responsibilities of Board Member:

* Commit to meeting monthly with other Board Members and the Executive Director of the CFPA. Meetings typically occur for 1 1/2 hours either mornings or late afternoons. Meetings are currently conducted via zoom.

* Review of organizational and program reports

* Oversight and approval of proposed annual budget as submitted by the Executive Director

* Actively promote the CFPA with community contacts and by participating in events per year, including one fundraising event

* Actively participate in monthly board meetings, bringing fresh ideas and creative solutions to issues facing CFPA.

* Assist in fundraising and outreach by participating on ad-hoc committees as needed.

* Financially support the organization in a manner commensurate with one’s ability.
